Sending Hugs

Card two and this time I used an old free stamp from a magazine.Unfortunately I have not kept the name of the stamp but it has definitely become one of my favourites.
The sky was made using HobbyArt's cloud stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide.
I used Mowed lawn Distress Oxide for the grass and then punched out two different size red circles, crumpled them and stuck them to the front of the card using PVA glue. A black dot in the centre finished them off.
The two figures were coloured in using ProMarkers.

You can see this same idea used in my Art Journal HERE.

Card Class January 2020

I only teach one card class a month at present so I tend to give some choice when there are quite a few class mates.  Here are the selection from class on 5th January.

Thanks So Much

O'Christmas Tree

I chose two cards this year and made loads for family and friends. I think I made over 80 before I ran out of steam. This was the first.
I made all of the tree toppers first and then mounted and decorated afterwards.
The second was this one
Not everyone liked this one when I taught it in class but I found it easy to make and therefore easy to replicate again and again. The Santa image is a stencil and both Santa and the background were done using Distress Oxides.
I am definitely going to start making Christmas cards earlier next year.

The Deer Family

I'm sure you are just like me and have loads of dies which are shut away in a cupboard and forgotten. These next two cards were made using two Sizzix strip dies, Woodland Deer and Gingerbread Men with Hearts (I think both are discontinued but you may be able to get them on EBay or Amazon)
Here is the first one. The clouds were made using the cloud stencil from HobbyArt.
The deer and trees were coloured in using proMarkers.
The second card I have used a scrapbook paper as the background and coloured the diecut using ProMarkers.
I added little silver hearts hanging from the trees and drew the strings in using a thin black pen.
Class photo
If you want to stencil and the two others that I use you can find them HERE xx

Deer Couple

Another stamp I bought and then didn't use for a while but it is such an easy card to make and one that you can easily make time and time again. This time the stamp is from Woodware and its called "Deer & Doe"
The soft background is Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide and the Deer and Doe are coloured in using Gathered Twigs watered down and painted with a brush.
Class photo
I really enjoyed using this stamp and I have no doubt it will become a firm favourite. x

Patchwork Reindeer

I have had this stamp for a while but never used it. It was only when I started to colour him in that I realised how beautiful he is.
I think I enjoy using unusual stamps and I wonder why I never used it before. Coloured in using Pro-Markers and the background made using Salty Ocean Distress Oxide.
Here is one of the class photos
Loads more to come so keep checking back xx

Good Together

When I first started Scrapping Your Family many years ago, I started making pages for a memory album. Over time I have included many pages that cover current family and events but I thought it was about time to use some older pictures especially as it was Margaret (one of our class mates) 50th Wedding Anniversary.

The pictures for this layout are of my maternal grandparents. I love the pictures in the little film strip.
I found that my old photo programme Picasa prints off contact photos which fit perfectly into the tiny holes.
The flowers are by Cottage Garden by HobbyArt and are one of their new releases (you can find them HERE)
All of the flowers are coloured with Distress Oxide Ink Pads and a paint brush.
and I used a die cut for the little branch. This was coloured in using promarkers and some people in class added a bird on the branch.

I have set the blog up to release a new post every day for the next 7 days so please keep checking back. xx

Sri-Lanka

I am lucky enough to have been to some amazing places and I have loads of photos still to put in my scrapbook album so when I saw the Pink Ink Elephant stamp it was a wonderful opportunity to do a Sri-Lankan page.
It doesn't show in the picture but the patterns on each elephant as really sparkly and this worked well as I kept the elephant colours very neutral.
If you like the elephant and want to see more Pink Ink stamps you can find them HERE.

Pink Ink Dragon Fly Cards

So in class my ladies were given a choice of two backgrounds for this amazing Dragon Fly by Pink Ink Designs one made using distress inks
and one made using a background paper
Both backgrounds were stamped on using black Archival ink and AALL & Create stamps and then highlighted with a Signo White Pen. The Dragonflies were attached to the cards using glue on the body and sticky foam pads on the wings.
I am loving these stamps.x

Christmas Card Bear

Are you a Pink Ink fan? Well I am and this bear will be appearing on a lot of my Christmas Cards this year. So easy to colour in and a great card for a grumpy husband in Christmas denial lol.
The background was made using Distress Oxides , spritzed and then stamped with small snowflakes using the same ink. I also love the way you can move the eyes to suit the card, in this case the bears eyes are looking towards the Christmas hat.

Zebra Birthday

So easy yet so effective and this technique works with all silhouette stamps. I used three different Distress Oxide colours and then spritzed with a fine spray of water.
When dry I chose the area I wanted for the background and cut it to size. Next I stamped the zebra in Black Versafine ink.
To finish I added two black strips of card and a stamped border. Any greeting could be used on the card. xx

Hydrangea Happy Birthday

This wonderful flower stamp is from a set by Hobby Art Ltd and because it has so much detail it takes very little shading when colouring in.
What I particularly like are the individual petal stamps, four in total, which allow you to layer up the hydrangea head.
and the lovely small butterfly which stamps beautifully.
All colouring was done with Distress Oxides and Pro Markers with a tiny script stamp used on the background in Archival Ink Watering Can.

You can find this gorgeous stamp set HERE.

Harry 2015 with Distress Oxides

This class I decided to use Distress Oxides on black card through stencils to make the background.
The Distress Oxides give a soft chalky effect on black and were just what I needed to show off the flowers and butterflies

Yellow flowers were definitely the right choice, fussy cut from floral paper
More tomorrow as still have a few bits to share. x

Using Distress Oxides on cards

Couldn't resist doing these. I am a huge fan of Distress Oxides as you probably notice and I know through experience that even a complete card making beginner can get fantastic results with these inks.
I started off by doing the blue sky and green grass and then added a few white and red dots to look like flowers in a field.
Then I thought some of my more adventurous class mates would like a brighter background
and they liked them all but which one did they pick to do? Of course, the one with the mobile phone. Now this is really not an easy stamp to use unless you have a stamping platform or a really juicy ink pad so we had some fun but we all got there in the end.
I'll put in a scrapbook layout tomorrow evening as there are a couple I haven't shared. Have a great evening and please, if you can please leave a comment. xx

Somehow I missed these

I am trying my very best to clear the decks in my craft room so that I have more space to record videos, make up kits and get the mixed media goody bags on my Etsy site. While I was knee deep in paper I found a folder with these cards in so I thought I'd share before I posted them off.

The first one was so easy to make and my favourite of the three
The second one is made entirely from the free stamps in a past issue of Creative Stamping
I just love those shoes, glittered and ready for a party.
and the final card was made using another free set of stamps which I am using again and again. They are country flowers and really easy to colour in.
It's not a very good photo but the stamps make a refreshingly spring/summer Birthday card.
That's it till tomorrow. Off to enjoy the sunshine x

Hugs

Nothing beats a Distress Oxide background and a fantastic animal stencil. An effective and very easy card to make.
The band across the top left of the card was cut from the distressed background when I cut it to fit the card. Loads more to come believe me lol. x

Wild Child

I've seen loads of Dream Catcher cards and layouts recently so I thought it might be nice to make one for the Scrapping Your Family class and of course it was a fantastic excuse to use the Distress Oxides again.
The dream catcher itself was made using florist string which held its shape nicely. The best thing was that everyones looked completely different. Here are a few pictures taken on the day. The first two show how the dream catcher looks before the photo was added.

and here are a few of the rest. Don't they look fantastic.

Well done everyone. These all look amazing. xx
