Looking back

Yes it's that time of year again when I look back on the past year and reflect. On a personal note it has been pants but the one thing that has kept me going all year are the people.who came to my classes and the wonderful work they did in class.

As I don't want this post to go on forever I've chosen just a few of my favourite class projects of 2016 in no particular order. Enjoy xxx

See you in 2017 xxxx

Christmas Children

Lots of people had asked me to make a Christmas layout for younger children but everyone wanted specific things relating to their grandchildren/children included. With this in mind I decided to do two layouts, one girl and one boy, but to keep them really simple so that additional embellishments and wording could be added afterwards.
This is the boy layout.
With some of the detail (I used different punches for each one.)

Was really delighted that the bike border was part of this paper.
And then the little girl layout
Well every little girl loves a dinosaur right?

The photos for both of these were free images from the Internet because I am waiting to take some special photos this year.
So that's it, the last layout of 2016. Watch this space for new and exciting classes in 2017 plus don't forget to check out my own blog www.newnanny.blogspot.co.uk in the new year as it will be a lot more active. xx

O Christmas Tree

Again a really easy card and I managed to use the tree and greeting from the free stamp set from Creative Stamping.
That's the last of the Christmas cards. One more Christmas layout tomorrow then its time to bring in the new. So many ideas and so little time xxx

Merry Christmas Penguins

Yes I know its after Christmas but I ran out of time to post these and they are so cute.
As always the colouring in was easy using StampArts stamps and inspiration gallery. Will use these again next year. xx

Happy Christmas Family

I absolutely love this card especially the little family playing in the snow.
They were taken from a lovely scene die which did include a windmill and some foliage. It was easy to cut them out and colour them in.
The nice thing about it was how different everyones card looked with the people wearing different colours and hair shades. xx

Two Birds Merry Christmas

Love this tree trunk die. It has so many uses and makes a great, simple Christmas card. Notice the white space.....yes still trying to use it lol.
The birds are part of the tree trunk die set and the merry Christmas was cut using the Scan N Cut
The glittery strip is actually clear but picks up the colour underneath. I know it as Glamour Card but I'm sure that there are peel offs out there somewhere that do the same thing. xx

White Space Layout

Still loving white space and bright colours this year which I'm sure will carry into 2017. It is surprising just how hard classmates find it to leave an expanse of white on the page. This one was a real challenge lol.
The bright flowers were punched from coloured cardstock.
And a shield shape to add the journaling
The little design at the bottom of the page helped everyone to fill their pages a little bit more lol.xx

Happy Christmas Mr Walrus

Favourite stamp this year and one that I couldn't decide whether to buy or not. For those of you who know me you will know that I am totally addicted to HobbyArt stamps. I normally buy them as they come out but this set I was unsure about. Should have just bought it because after talking to Jenny at a recent show and seeing some of her many examples, I decided it was a stamp set I couldn't do without. Here's the first card made for card class.
The hat is stamped and coloured separately and the bobble was cut from a bobble trim I had in my stash. Love it xx.

Ice and Snow

Couldn't find a winter paper that I liked this year so decided we would make our own in class by using snowflake die cuts.
This is a Sizzix Tim Holtz Die and comes with the die and an embossing folder which adds the detail to the white snowflakes.
I kept the lilac snowflakes plain and flat but raised the white embossed snowflakes on sticky foam pads.
Really enjoyed doing this. Will certainly be looking to making more of my own paper designs in 2017. xx

Sweet

Now this one was so hard to photograph and it really doesn't do it justice so sorry for that. The idea behind this class was to introduce gloss enamelling in readiness for a Creativity 101 class in 2017.
I found using Anitas 3D Gloss was best as it comes in a little tube with a fine nozzle.
And I didn't know whether to add the blackbird but in the end I decided it looked better with it.
So enjoyed making this one xx

2016

Woa those black stripes needed some thought. I love the paper but no matter what I did I found the stripes moved everytime I looked at the paper. In the end I realised that I needed a vertical border to make it more visually pleasing.
The leaves and berries were diecut and the leaves bent to give a 3d effect.
The numbers were stamped with shadow foliage to make them less stark.
and because it is a 2016 layout I added four photos in varying sizes and shapes.
More tomorrow xxx

Deer Deer

Another very simple Chrtistmas card but very effective. (I'm loving all of these simple, white space cards.
I could have added a title but the stamped Happy Christmas background did it for me.
A little bit of glitter on the antlers worked well
and a punched bow border to finish it off. Lovely xxx

You Never Know .....

Over the last six months I have made quite a few projects using cogs but when I looked back, I made them all silver, copper and gold colour. This time I decided to have a play with some of the Distress Colours to make this male layout.
I only used the brad heads for the centres
and because the background paper is so fab, I just used a brick paper and cut bits out of the pattern.
Like this one xx

Merry Christmas Card

Ok so I've been MIA for a few weeks but it's been soooo busy with classes, dinners, teas and commissions to finish but the good news is it means I have loads and loads to share.

Here is the first of many cards for Christmas and I started with an easy one.
This looks small but in fact it is 8" x 8" and as it is white on white I have embossed the background and raised the diecut to give a classy look. Red gems finished it off.

Thanks for looking xx.
