Pretty

I don't know about you but I have loads of photos of my family where they are part of a group and the only person I know in the photo is my mum or my dad or even my grandparents. I don't really want to use people I do not know in my layouts so I took the photo and scanned it into my computer, cropped it by selecting the person I wanted to scan (in this case my mum) and scannned using a high resolution say 600psi. The resulting image was really good considering how old the photo was.

Here's the layout I made for class

There is so much detail in this one, unfortunately it didn't photograph very well so here is a bit of the detail.

It wasnt until I strareted using them that I realised the orange flowers were made from foam. Not my first choice but they look ok.
For time sake I used a thin layer of texture paste as we needed the layouts to dry quickly.
Love thos tiny pearl beads. Will definately be using them again.
If I was making this just for myself I would have added some spray and more texture.
Thats it for today. Have a good one xxx

Best Wishes

The reason for doing this card was to teach the Distress Ink technique for the background. I have recorded the process below so that you can have a play.

The silhouette flowers are a sizzix die and I have had it for ages. I have a feeling it will be used a lot.
I also have a very large hoard of embroidery thread which was perfect for this card. There are some amazing Embroidery Thread bargains in the shops right now. Huge packs at reasonable prices in the Range and a few in The Works. Worth a look if you need some.

Here is a very quick video. Really limited for space and recorded with the camera in the wrong place but I think you'll get my drift. Enjoy xx

Happy Birthday panel

Still loving the flower sets from DoCraft and finding so many ways to use them.
Here is card two from card class
Notice the overlap of flowers and leaves onto the raised greeting. I like this effect and so easy to do and of course there's that scrummy white plank background paper. Love it.
I've got loads to catch up on so keep checking back. Have a great Monday xxx

Cheeky Monkey Layout

A hidden stamped background with a bright forground is a really easy way to make modern layouts for your album. This particular design jumped out at me from somewhere on a Pinterest hop and it just stayed with me so I had to play to make it my own.

Everything on the layout is made from paper including the flowers and the bows.

The stamping on the yellow was done using a yellow stazon ink pad and a small flower from the DoCraft Folk Floral stamp set.

I didn't get the name of the person who had the original idea for this layout but thank you whoever you are xx.

The Best Times Layout

Loving the stencilling at the moment but can't decide whether I prefer inking through them or using texture paste. Went with the ink this time using Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
I have also started using my Dies again after many months playing on the Scan n Cut which can do sooo much, I realised I had forgotten some of my old favourites.

Think this layout is probably one of my favourites so far this year. If you have time leave a comment. Have a great day xxx

Happy Birthday Flower

This wonderful flower stamp by Hobby Art is so easy to use and can be stamped and coloured in so many ways.
The technique for this class was the background masking and also using a cut out flower as a stencil to stamp the script stamp through.
Here's a close up so you can see what I mean
The flower was stamped twice onto red paper and cut out, shaped and finished with a gem and dots of black stickles
Card three tomorrow xx
